The LA Film Critics Awards give Best Picture to "The Zone of Interest," and four women win acting awards (Full Winners List).

The Los Angeles Film Critics Awards were mostly about women and movies from other countries.

"The Zone of Interest," a grimly methodical historical drama by Jonathan Glazer loosely based on the 2014 novel by Martin Amis,

won three awards: best picture, best director, and music for Mica Levi. Sandra Hüller shared her leading performance win with her other international film "Anatomy of a Fall."

Since 2000, "About Schmidt" (2002), "American Splendor" (2003), "WALL-E" (2008), and "Small Axe" (2020) are the only four movies

chosen by LAFCA for best picture that did not win the award. Five movies have won the best picture Oscar in the same amount of

time: "The Hurt Locker" (2009), "Spotlight" (2015), "Moonlight" (2016), "Parasite" (2019), and "Everything, Everywhere" (2017).

The group, which has been around for 49 years, has been a strong indicator for the Academy Awards. Since 2009, Debra Granik for "Leave No Trace" is the only LAFCA winner for director who has not been nominated for an Oscar.

Kathryn Bigelow ("The Hurt Locker"), Alfonso Cuarón ("Gravity"), Guillermo del Toro ("The Shape of Water"), Bong Joon-ho ("Parasite"), Chloé Zhao ("Nomadland"),
