David Ortiz attempted to connect with Tampa Bay Rays star Wander Franco during an investigation into allegations of inappropriate relationship with a minor.

Oritz, in an interview with ESPN Deportes reporter Enrique Rojas, stated he cannot comment on Franco's situation due to lack of knowledge, but has attempted to contact him.

ESPN Deportes reported that the individual is unsure if he made any comments or opinions on unrelated matters.

He expressed his desire to assist Wander in understanding the situation with Franco after learning about the situation.

Ortiz enjoyed talking to Wander at the All-Star Game, describing him as a good boy who aims to guide youths, not trample or mistreat them.

Ortiz contacted San Diego Padres shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. to assist Franco in resolving a 2022 suspension related to performance-enhancing substance violations.

Franco, a 22-year-old Dominican Republic citizen, is under investigation by the National Agency for Boys, Girls, Adolescents, and Family and Gender Violence Unit in Peravia province.

The Tampa Bay Rays have agreed to place Wander Franco on the Restricted List and take leave from the club during their current road trip.
