Following their victory over the Detroit Pistons, the Memphis Grizzlies announced the assignment of Kenneth Lofton Jr. to
the G-League Memphis Hustle. Lofton will be recalled after playing one game with the Hustle,
according to the Grizzlies' release, and should be available when the Grizzlies face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday.
Due to all of their ailments, the Grizzlies have been attempting to get longer minutes for a few guys in the G-League while keeping them active in the NBA
If the Grizzlies weren't missing so many players due to injury, they wouldn't have to keep moving players like Lofton
from the G-League to the NBA, because they wouldn't require as much aid at the NBA level.
That said, having a G-League squad so near to the NBA team means the Grizzlies can send Lofton down for one day
to play with the Hustle and then bring him back up for their next game against the Timberwolves
Lofton is unlikely to get much action in this game against Minnesota, but having him available as an insurance option is something the Grizzlies recognize they require right now given their present circumstances.
