A resident near where the shooting happened said an incident like Saturday’s isn’t something she was used to.

“I was at home, actually,” resident Elisha Gyasibaaye said. “I heard a couple of shots and I was like, ‘There’s no way there’s fireworks. What’s going on right now,’ and then my buddy, who was a police officer, just texted me. It was, like, ‘Someone got shot. Y’all be careful.’”

The Columbus Police Homicide Unit is investigating.

This is the fourth fatal shooting in Columbus and the surrounding area since Wednesday. This includes two people shot and killed in separate incidents by police officers as well as a man shot and killed during an armed robbery at an auto parts store.
