4 killed in Joppatowne shooting, sheriff says

Three adults and a teenager were killed Saturday in a shooting at an apartment in Joppatowne, according to the Harford County sheriff. Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler said deputies were called around 11:18 a.m. for a reported active shooter at the Mariner’s Pointe apartments in the 300 block of Trimble Road. The person who called 911 said a man walked into the building with a handgun, and then they heard multiple gunshots, Gahler said.The sheriff said deputies arrived at the scene within minutes and found two people dead in one apartment unit.”Within two minutes, deputies had already arrived on scene and were at the door of the apartment involved,” Gahler said.Another person who was shot was taken to a hospital, where they died. The sheriff believes the shooter turned the gun on themselves. Of the four deceased victims, one was 17 years old.It’s believed the suspect was let into the apartment. The sheriff’s office said there was no threat to the community.”(It’s) another tragic day for our Harford County community,” Gahler said. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to those families that are going to be impacted in these horrific losses.”A motive is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 443-567-7201.”My granddaughter saw the first police cars pull up, and by the time I came downstairs to look, it was like 10 or 11 of them out here and they all were getting out with big guns. So, it’s a little nerve-wracking and very, very sad,” Cummings said. No further information was immediately released.
